Privacy policy

Trakdd helps you track expenses, income, and budgets across currencies. Trakdd is operated by its cofounders, Dominion Yusuf and Victor Hamzat, in Rwanda. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app. Contact us at hello@trakdd.com.
Using Trakdd without an account
An account is optional. Your transactions, budgets, categories, and preferences are stored on your device so you can use them offline. Guest records are not uploaded to Trakdd’s cloud backup. Uninstalling the app or resetting its data can remove records that have not been backed up.
Optional accounts and cloud backup
If you sign in with Google or Apple, Firebase Authentication receives the provider credential and maintains your Trakdd account. Trakdd receives an account identifier and the email address or private relay address supplied by the provider. Trakdd does not receive your Google or Apple password.
Signing in enables automatic cloud backup. The backup contains your transaction amounts, currencies, dates, categories and notes; budgets; custom categories; display name; avatar seed; and currency preferences. These records are associated with your account identifier and stored using Google Firebase Cloud Firestore. We use them to save and restore your records when you sign in to the same account.
Changes are saved while the app is open and connected. Offline changes remain on the device until a later successful save. Your passcode, biometric credentials, and device security settings are excluded from the cloud backup.
Other network requests
- Trakdd requests currency lists and exchange rates from Frankfurter. These requests include the requested currency, rather than your transaction records.
- Trakdd requests avatar images from DiceBear. An avatar seed is included in the request and may be based on the display name you enter.
- Google, Apple, Firebase, Frankfurter, and DiceBear receive ordinary network information, such as your IP address, when your device connects to them. Their handling of that information is also governed by their own policies.
Trakdd does not use your financial records for advertising or sell them. The app does not include advertising tracking or a Firebase Analytics integration.
Where records are stored
Your local records remain on your device. The Trakdd Firestore backup database is configured in Johannesburg, South Africa. Authentication and other provider services may process information in other locations under their own service terms. Cloud backup is associated with your sign-in account; it is not an end-to-end encrypted vault.
Retention and deletion
Cloud records are retained while your account is active. You can delete your account from Settings → Account & backup → Delete account. This removes the cloud ledger and Trakdd sign-in account after identity verification. A minimal deletion marker containing the account identifier is retained to prevent an older app session from recreating deleted cloud records. Provider recovery and retention practices may apply to their service infrastructure.
Signing out or deleting your account leaves records on the current device available for offline use. To remove those local records, use Settings → Data & storage → Reset App Data. Resetting local data keeps any completed cloud backup unless you also delete the account.
You can review and edit your records in the app. For privacy questions, access requests, or help with deletion, email hello@trakdd.com. Please do not send your password or passcode.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our data handling changes and revise the date above. Material changes affecting your choices will also be explained in the app where appropriate.
